The service was led by the Sub-Dean of the Cathedral and the Vicar General. The homily was delivered by Rev'd Sospeter Mlunga from the Diocese of Mt. Kilimanjaro, focusing on the power of words and their impact.

Rev'd Mlunga emphasized that words hold immense power, they can bring both destruction and blessings. He referenced the creation story, highlighting that God created everything through His word and possesses complete knowledge of all things.

He spoke about the sacrifice of Christ, shedding light on seven significant moments when Jesus bled for humanity, each symbolizing a unique aspect of redemption:
1. The Garden of Gethsemane – Jesus' sweat became like great drops of blood, symbolizing His internal agony and willingness to suffer for humanity.
2. The Whipping Post – The stripes on His back represent the healing power of His blood.
3. The Crown of Thorns – The thorns pressing into His head symbolize freedom from mental burdens and oppression.
4. The Piercing of His Hands – This signifies dominion over the work of our hands and the power to overcome obstacles.
5. The Piercing of His Feet – Represents dominion over our paths and the strength to stand firm in adversity.
6. The Piercing of His Side – The blood and water that flowed symbolize spiritual nourishment and cleansing.
7. The Cross – Jesus' ultimate sacrifice, shedding His blood for the forgiveness of sins and victory over death.
