Diocese - Inaugural Education Day For Diocesan Sponsored Public Primary Schools

History was made today as representatives of 34 Public Primary Schools sponsored by the Diocese of Mt. Kenya South met under one roof for the very first time.

Hundreds of learners, teachers, and school heads assembled at ACK St. James Cathedral Kiambu for an inaugural Education Day and their first fellowship ever as a body.

A myriad of presentations, including choral verses, plays, songs, gymnastics, and comedy, a band among others, made the ceremony one of a kind.

"Do not be satisfied with your current state. Strive to develop your skills and hobbies. Seize all opportunities that ensure growth. Move on to higher altitudes in all spheres."

The Sixth Mt. Kenya South Rt. Rev'd Canon Charles Muturi reasoned with learners urging them to draw lessons from the acronym 'SCHOOL':

  1. Sharing
  2. Creative
  3. Hard work
  4. Opportunities
  5. Organize
  6. Learn

The Bishop fortified the learners with the words of Proverbs 19:20, 'Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end, you shall be counted among the wise'.

The Ministry of Education Kiambu County Director Mr. Simon Wanjohi, who was the Chief Guest, lauded the Diocese for according the field of Education the value it deserves as well as implementing pacesetting mechanisms for a holistic experience for learners, teachers, and Headteachers.

Mr. Gitau from the Teachers Service Commission was in attendance.

The success of the day is courtesy of the relentless efforts of the Diocesan Board of Education led by their Chairman Ven. Dr. Richard Kamau, the Director of Education Rev'd Jeremiah Muchoki, as well as the Coordinator of Diocesan Public Primary Schools Madam Charity Njenga.
