Choir - FROM A MUSTARD SEED TO A FLOURISHING CHOIR

The journey of ACK St. Andrew's Ndenderu Choir is a testament to the power of humble beginnings and unwavering faith. Like a mustard seed, their story began with a small yet resolute determination in 1975. At the time, the church was preparing for the consecration of its new sanctuary in 1976 and was informed by the diocese that without a choir, the sacred Psalms would need to be recited rather than sung—a prospect that stirred the congregation into actioned.

Rising to the occasion, the church resolved to form its own choir. Under the guidance of their first choir master, Mr. Mulwa, a small group came together, trained diligently, and even acquired uniforms to mark their commitment. By the time the new sanctuary was ready for consecration, the choir had blossomed, proudly leading the congregation in singing the Psalms during the historic event.

From that pivotal moment, the mustard seed planted in faith grew steadily. Over the decades, the choir expanded in both membership and influence. Today, it comprises about 35 members, young and old and continues to enrich the spiritual life of the church. Beyond their musical contributions, the choir has also ventured into initiatives like investing in tents and chairs, which they rent out to support church activities.

Recognized as a Class B choir in the diocesan rankings, they have garnered numerous accolades at the deanery, archdeaconry, and diocesan levels. Their story exemplifies how a small act of faith, nurtured with dedication and community spirit, can grow into something enduring and impactful.

The ACK St. Andrew's Ndenderu Choir remains a living symbol of the mustard seed parable, showing that with faith and effort, even the smallest beginnings can yield a harvest of joy and fulfillment.
